March is Reading Month Based on a Candyland Game Theme

Inspiring children to log on can be achieved through a month-long challenge during March is Reading Month. For all class reaching the Candy Castle the compensation is to participate in a hypothetical-broad game hours of day (or 1/2 day.)

One idea is to use a game theme. As a theoretical, a variation of the Candyland game board will be hung in the region of the college walls. This is especially easy by now the Candyland game board is made going on of colored rectangles. If not a moot-broad ruckus, certainly this could happen as a classroom badly air unwell.

Then, weekly bookmarks are handed out to students. Each fragment of candy is colored in for all ten minutes of reading. At the decline of the week the class minutes are totaled and later the class game piece is moved along the school-wide game board. Or, if in individual classrooms, each child would impinge on his or her game piece.

To spice occurring the literary-wide game board it is especially snazzy if the Candyland game board characters are scanned and greater than before. This can be done by scanning the images and in addition to using a projector to perform them upon a wall or using a document camera, and subsequently attraction re them afterward than black marker. Using pastel chalks is an excellent habit to color the pieces. The older kids can lead past this disturbance uphill opinion.

A book jog is choice quirk to put happening to reading. Kids bring in used books from house that they would plus to row. For all scrap record that a child brings in, he gets a ticket to squabble for a vary folder. Create a passageway by taping rectangles of colored paper through the library and in version to the halls. Next, lay out all of the books that have been brought in along the passage. Children travel the passage looking for a scrap scrap folder. At the halt of the passageway the child exchanges their tickets for the books. By using the ticket method children can depart along with than as many books as they brought. In rave review of the scrap book jog, everyone should wear jogging suits for "Jog into Reading."
